I have an English Flower garden quilt and have no idea how to machine quilt it. I need some instruction because I usually just stitch in the ditch or straight line quilt with painters tape. I haven't quilted much and need some help.

I would stitch in the ditch around each flower & around the center of the flower. When I have a wider border like that, I print twinning leaves on sheets of paper, pin them to the border & quilt/stitch the lines on the paper.

Your quilt is going to be beautiful. Here's one that someone else on the board did an outstanding job on: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-130784-1.htm
She quilted just outside the ditch and did some hearts in the border and it looks great. |
Welcome to the board from Southern California!!!

Very pretty!

I love how the blocks between the flowers seem to be floating kinda 3d.

I actually put it in the machine and tried to quilt around the flowers but I didn't know if I should be using the walking foot or just the stitch in the ditch foot. It seemed hard to turn the walking foot around every petal. Why didn't I think about the quilting when I chose the pattern!
Thanks for your help. I'll give it another go! |
Very pretty, I would do an all over meander or outline each hex.

I'm in the process of making Grandmother's Garden and plan to stitch around each petal. Your quilt is gorgeous.
