Hellllllp :roll: I just bought a Brother Project Runway Limited Edition Computerized Sewing machine and I want to try learning to quilt with it. What will the stitch length and the tension be for free motion quilting????

If you are free motioning, drop the feed dogs, and your movement will be the stitch length. As for your tension, do some stitches in the margins, or make a sample sandwich, and see what happens.

I'm with Shelly. Make a sample sandwich and go for it. It's best to leave everything alone as far as tension. Stitch length depends on how fast you move your hands. It's best to speed up your motor but move your hands fairly slowly.

Thanks Shelly and Sharon, I was reading the instructions and it was telling me stitch length would be from 0.0 to 4.0 ??? Never used a computerized sewing machine before and I didn't want to mess with the machine until I asked you guy's.
I will practice with a sandwich first, this is going to be interesting.

When I was learning to stipple I made a sandwich 9" square and tried writing my name with the stitches. Also I relate it to like playing the "piano" you have to get the rythum going. Eventually you will get it. Although my sister, who is a quilter, never got it . we laugh about it now but she is good at other things. Marge

Seems like there is no way around PRACTICE - preferably on something that is relatively unimportant!
