machine shank

I have a Brother 1500 machine. Is it considered a low, medium or high shank machine? I want to buy the ruler foot and need the info. Thanks.

I believe it is a low shank but you can purchase an adapter for it also. Google it or check Brother site, should be able to found more info there.

If you have the PQ1500 then it’s a HIGH shank machine.

Why don't the user guides tell us what kind of shank the machine has? Just wondering.

As others have stated your machine is a high shank. There is no such thing as a medium shank. Sewing machines that have side mount feet come in low shank(most common), high shank, super high shank(some older Kenmores) and slant shank(some Singers).
