Look at this
http://www.southeasttexas.com/classi...0&type=general and see some damage but generally in fair or good shape, they said will take 150.00 rather than 175.00. I am going to see it tomorrow. Serial # is 12.450.096 = 1894 I'm inclined to be excited about it, but want to check with you guys to see if this is a deal or not. Thanks so much for your input. . |
can you take some fabric with you to test drive it????
|
It's gorgeous, and it has the table and cover. I'd be excited and I'd buy it.
|
Woh! Great idea, my eyes popped open when I read this, I will definitely do this.
See, this board is the greatest. Thanks, craftybear, once again you come through. (not to mention I'm always amazed at how fast the answers come on this board!!!)

|
Make sure to test everything out!
|
Looks pretty to me!

I just purchased an 1889 Singer treadle. The table and coffin top looks like this one. It sews like a dream. I bought it for $125 and would've paid more. I absolutely love it. I'm currently piecing my Farmer's Wife quilt with it. Very fitting- I think!

Looks good. Take fabric for a test run. You need to realize that this model takes the long thing bobbin shuttle. Make sure the shuttle is there - they are really expensive to replace. And the bobbins are not really easy to find either.
|
Thank you so much everyone.
. |
I actually said Oh Wow outloud!!!!!!!Go now!!! Do not wait till tomorrow!!!!!!!!! LOL LOL I want a treadle so bad I can taste it. Just can/t afford it. GO!!! GO!!!!!
|
Very pretty machine, yes it does take a long bobbin but I have seen several on ebay that are very reasonable.

She's a beauty and looks a lot like my Cleo, although this one is much nicer. Cleo dates to 1905. I know the person that gifted me Cleo paid much more than what is being asked for this one. She is sure purty!!!

I took a day trip to see the machine, and it is in ok condition, not spectacular, has no attachments, no manual, and no bobbin.
The listing said "works good" but I think they meant you can rock the treadle and turn the flywheel ok. Without a bobbin it certainly cannot sew. So I left it with them. I'll keep looking. . |

Don't know where you are in Texas, but I have seen several on Craigs List for DFW area - I saw a gorgeous one in Flower Mound last week with the coffin top. Hope you find that special treadle at that special price soon! |
Thanks.
Something nice will turn up. Looking is part of the fun too! . |
It mentions some missing parts -I am asking $375 obo. It is in good shape, and it still can work. Just needs the "boat shuttle" and bobbin- Not sure what a boat shuttle is but missing bobbin parts can be an issues and for some machine harder to find parts and $. Maybe check with Billy from the vintage board.

Turns out the serial number places this as a 1894 allocation, build-date 1895-1897. I haven't found any boat shuttles on ebay, and without knowing more than I do about these machines, would be buying a pig-in-a-poke I obtained one and then had to find out if it fits.
Also found no manuals for this machine. |
