I have a magnet wand exactly like the one shown, and my husband tried to steal it! I had to holler at him to get it back.

We have one at the horse barn to pick up horseshoe nails and clippings.

I’m a retired physics teacher, & I can tell you how to use those magnets on a stick to get thrown out of a Lowe’s! (If they didn’t want us to play with them, they would lock them up, right??)
I've found a few pins, maybe from my mom’s sewing things, that aren’t magnetic. Using the magnet to pick up
stray pins will work IF all the pins are magnetic, so have everyone check the pins they plan to bring.

Cover the end of the magnet with a thin plastic bag secured with string or rubber band. When it's full of pins just turn it inside out and give it a tug...you end up with a baggie full of pins instead of picking them off one at a time. This works great on the larger magnets used for nails and metal bits in a shop or garage...keeps the magnet clean too.

I have one that I use all the time, it’s great. Came from lowes. As someone mentioned, not all pins will be attracted to a magnet. Anything that is non-ferrous (no iron in it) will not be attracted to a magnet, so brass pins and some steel pins will not be attracted to it! But at least in my sewing room, it will pick up the vast majority of pins and needles that get dropped.

I recently bought one at WalMart.

I use my magnet stick a lot. I bought one at my local quilt shop with a light on the end so I can see when things fall under my sewing desk.

I also always use Clover flower head pins so I can see any I drop and am not aware of. It’s so much better than stepping on them.....

I made one with a one inch X 36 "dowel stick, and glued a small 1 " round magnet on the end(purchased by the package at Hobby lobby or any craft places..I keep it near my sewing machine.Have had it for years, can't do without it.

I like mine so well that I gave one to my acupuncturist !! She loves it too !

I have two. One has a light on the end of it! I also have a short one (about 6" long) with a two inch flat bottom that has a release handle that you pull up to drop the pins onto your magnetic pin cushion. Both work great.
