Recently, I saw a tutorial on how to make a crinkly scarf. I thought I'd saved it, but evidently not - and although I've searched, I can't find it!

The one I'm looking for involved fan folding silk, clipping it with clothespins, then putting it into a stocking to dry.

Does anyone remember seeing this?

For what's it worth, way back in New Mexico in the 50s we wore what was then called "fiesta dresses" that had wrinkles by the million in the them. We were instructed to wash them, not wring them out, but to pull them up through a nylon stocking that had the foot cut off. Hang to dry. Don't remember much about the blouse, but the skirt was always wrinkled, and generally strong multi colors.

I think I'd try the scarf wet and pull through a stocking leg. Might work nicely, especially if it's a fabric that wrinkles easily. Sounds like maybe a linen type might wrinkle faster and keep them!!! It does in skirts, that much I do know.

I've done scarves and skirts like the website, with a few differences. 1) I don't roll it into a ball and rubber band it. The stocking holds the twists enough for me. With mold allergies in the house, I wanted it dry sooner. 2) I hemmed it first. Ever try to hem a crinkle fabric. Not fun!

Thank you fo the reminder. I have a wildly expensive silk scarf in colors that I don't care for. Doing this would soften the effect.
