Making bias binding

I saw a tutorial on making bias binding using solid black fabric this weekend and I lost it. Does anyone know about this tutorial? It was for continuous bias binding but was different because she used a piece of fabric half as long as wide. She used only a rotary cutter but didn't cut through the entire fabric. I was very impressed with how she made her strips. Losing my bookmark is very frustrating. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I posted a picture with a method of making bias binding by folding the fabric and then cutting stirps. Then you sew the strips together and it's done! Very nice I'll try to find it and post it here.

here is the video to watch! I use this method and it's great!

I can't remember what u-tube video I watched but found the cutting very complicated. You might check here:

I agree with PaperPrincess. This is my absolutely favourite way to make bias binding. For this method you use the whole WOF (width of fabric) and there is no waste as you don't have to cut a square first. I usually use 28" of fabric which will yield about 460" of 2.5 inch binding. She has excellent diagrams in her written instructions and if you follow all of the steps (including marking the seam allowance and numbering your lines) you will have perfect results. I can now make enough binding in an hour (marked, cut and pressed) for a King sized quilt!

Very helpful. Thank you!

Shelbie and PaperPrincess, thanks so much for posting that technique! I have always cut a square to make my bias binding but I can see that this will be so much easier with less waste. No more squares for me!.

This seems much easier to me.

I just cut my binding strips WOF, iron in half lengthwise and that is it. Works for me.

This is the method I use also. Quick, simple, works great!

Thanks everyone. I've used these techniques and they are good. What amazed me about the woman who made continuous binding using black fabric in her video is the huge amount she got from her fabric w/o waste. I'm still hunting and and if anyone finds it, let me know OK?
