Making a Lap Quilt From FQs

About how many FQs would it take to make a lap size quilt from FQs?

DebLuvsQuiltng 02-15-2013 06:44 PM

I would depend on what size ... 36X48 or 36X36? FQ are 18x22 inches. It would also depend if sewing them edge to edge or if cutting into smaller pieces and seaming... seams take up 1/4 inch each edge.

"Cutting the Fat" is a pattern that makes a lap quilt from 6 fat quarters plus material for sashing and a material. It is also very quick, can be done in a long day.

Opps! My bad. I wanted to say for a sashing and a border.

When I did the really bright Turning Twenty in a personal sized quilt, I used 8 FQ's

Yellow Brick Road pattern is really nice & 2 sizes can be made from 6 FQ. Have used different fabrics. Ks troubles to walmart for a quick spring quilt. You need a border & backing3yds.) I usually do a small 1 1/2" border. I subract the inner border from size of original outer border..
