I would like to make a patchwork duvet cover. I wonder what others have done on the back of the patchwork part as I don't want the cover to be too heavy.

I've made 2 duvet covers for my down comforter & used sheets for the back both times.

Are you planning on quilting the top? If so, I would most likely use a light weight muslin (won't be seen) under the patchwork. I'm assuming that you don't want to use a batting. If you want to add puffiness, then the most light weight batting you can find, then attach a sheet to make the slip cover.

Hey, I remembered something, I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond and they have these neat little clips that hold your comforter in place, mine always moves around, works great.

Curious - how do the clips work? Where do you put them?

I saw someting on television (HGTV) where they made a duvet and used flannel rather than batting. Also, it was not quilted but rather they used the pillowcase method, thus eliminating the weight produced by quilting. Haven't tried it, but it certainly looked super easy.

You lay the duvet out inside out and put comforter down and push through ends.
