Saves you time and $ in the long run. Whenever you need to make a triangle you can do it at home. You will never run out of triangle sizes and can print them at home in your jammies. Great idea!!!!! :lol: :lol:

Eleanor Burns method is easy and dosnt cost anything.
You just use large squares and sew an x thru them. For 2 1/2 in you use two 6 in squares right sides facing, and you get 8 half sqs. Watch her videos on Quilters TV.
You cut in at 3 in on each side then thru the x that you have sewn on both sides of the x. For 3 1/2 use 8in sqs, for 4 1/2 use 10 in sqs. Then square them up and you have perfect half square triangles.

I am too lazy to mark I want it done for me and quickly. I know how to do the other method but I like this one better easier for me. Just print put 2 pieces of fabric together and lets sew and go.

Waste of paper plus you have to pull off all that paper.
You only have to mark one x for 8 triangles with El. Burns way.
I used to use the paper pattern method, makes lots of triangles that some are not the right size and stretch out crooked. I even bought the interfacing kind that you leave on the back. I wasnt happy with the results of either.

That looks pretty neat. I'll have to look into the E. Burns way. No matter what I do, I just can't seem to get them perfect.

Rose Marie, I have to agree with you on this one. I just did 106 1 inch finished size HST's using the paper, and I didn't like it either. Wish I could find a size chart for the EB way to make different sizes - that would be cool :D

You go up 2 inches for each size. 1 1/2 would be 4 inch squares. That is unfinished size. You do have to square them up but it is worth it to have them perfect. If you use her triangle sq up ruler you only have to cut on two sides by laying the line on the stitches.

I will try to post instructions. Still working to learn my scanner.

I have done both ways and they work equally well...i have to slow down if its triangles and thats all there is to it. Everone likes one way better than the other.....thats why there is more than one method...thankfully

One thing I learned from the paper way is to put your thumb nail on the stitchs in the middle of the triangle and jerk the paper off. It works well. But will not use paper again.

Have to agree with Ruth, i like that there are TONS of choices for triangles!!! lol lol And me personally, i love the snap crackle pop of taking paper off of paper piecing, just like popping bubble wrap lol Paper is my favourite quilting tool :)

I agree with you Ruth everyone can use the method they like best. I like thangles and think this CD method would be good and a money saver to me. I pay $5 a pack and often need to buy various sizes. Besides I like new gadgets. I think it is a neat idea for us who like to buy things to simplify their quilting lives.
I do not do well with videos and insructions. I have a flying geese ruler I bought saw the demo and forgot how to do it by the time I got home. :lol: Bummer it sits with the rest of my rulers I bought and do not use collecting dust.

hey girls what ever works for you is the answer....the point is to get a triangle.... :D :lol: :D :lol: :wink: I use to draw a line on everyone...time consuming but worked....then I got a thing I put under my machine...sometimes that works....sometimes I use tape to help guide me....still working on an easy solution lordy it just takes time....so I sucumb to that idea... :D :lol: :wink:

Rose Marie you were a life saver last week-end. Had a pattern that cut the triangles and then sewed them together. Thought to myself, nah!!! going to try Rose Marie's suggestion. Worked great! Thanks...

If you are the obsessive type - you can trim/true your sewn triangles to exact size after they are sewn and pressed.

I'm a pretty good piecer, but sometimes they just don't come out exactly "right" and trimming the sewn squares sometimes makes sense.

Glad to help. I tried so many ways till I found Els way and now I make perfect triangles every time.
Be sure and get her triangle square up ruler, it makes it even simpler to square up the triangles.

Bebe and I are the same on Thangles ! They are slick! No thinking, just cut two fabics the same size ( square ) as the already measured paper cheat sheets !!

Have used them for nearly 5 years now !! I have parkingsons. anything that can help me and not make me thing too much to reserve energy !
