Making Templates into Paper Piecing?

Marsha Mccloskey has a wonderful pattern called Star of Chamblie that I love. It's one of her Feathered Star patterns and it's done with templates. Does anyone know how to convert into Paper Pieced pattern? I have EQ7 - not very much experience with it and I was wondering if it is possible to build a block to print out? Any help would so be appreciated. Susan

here's a link to her quilt http://www.marshamccloskey.com/
I'm thinking that would not translate well to paper piecing. if it is possible, it would be very complicated and lots of separate sections would have to be matched and sewn together. as far as doing it in EQ, i've not been able to draw blocks like this as the angles lines have to be between two points within the grid, and this star would require lots and lots of points. if you get it worked out, please let us know.

So far, I have found Feathered Stars in the block library that have different center squares. I'm trying to work on the block and just change the center block. Such as 9 patch, half square triangle patch, etc. It's going slow, but I've got nothing but time and a learning experience. Thanks Nan, I really appreciate your explanation of designing the block from scratch.

The only thing I see that could be PP are the triangles surrounding the star. She has always been really heavy into templates. I am always converting her block patterns from her book Marsha McCloskey's Block Party into EQ7. I believe they are just normals HSTs. She has long been renowned for her feather stars.

Sue....i looked at the pattern...and absolutely you could do these by PPing......they are all the same pattern, just different color / fabric placements If you'd like to talk about it please PM me.
