Hi Everyone,
I have several quilts that I need to get done by Christmas. I was wondering if I could just cut my fabric for each quilt, label the pieces and put all the piece for each individual quilt, and the pattern in a two gallon zip lock bag. Then put who the quilt is for on front of the zip lock. This way I have all my cutting out of the way, and then all I have to do is take each kit and sew the pieces together. Has anyone done this before. Thanks, Mary (stitchengramie) |
Sure, this would work and get a lot of the work out of the way at once.

Thats how I do it when I have more than one project going. I have lots of gallon freezer bags witing for their turn.

Great idea, make sure you include your binding fabric, backing, border fabric in with it too. I would end up using it for something else if I didn't  :D:D:D

Yes I have. Make sure to add a copy of the pattern into each of the ziplock bags that way you will know what pattern it is for. It definately does make a difference on how fast that you can whip out a quilt. I have a couple D9P cut to make. There's no rule that says you cant make your own quilt kits. And its alot cheaper too!!!

sure have!
i have also used small "pizza" boxes for projects. |
I have done this and then put in a clear plastic container. I use the large ones from Joann's in the scrapbook section. I put everything in there-cut fabric, copy of pattern pic right on top (reminds me where the pattern is- I forget where I put stuff sometimes). If I still need thread, backing and binding, I write it on the copy of pattern pic. I also make sure those needed items go on my white board-that is my shopping list and project list.

You know, that's a wonderful idea. I have a few kits that I purchased awaiting me in bags, but I never thought of putting together my own kits. I'm definitely going to borrow that idea!

I have sent 5 quilts to be laser cut at http://www.flynnquilt.com/lasercutkits/custom/
