Manitoba Prairie Quilters Show - guess what I bought!

I am the new owner of a HQ Sweet Sixteen! I test drove a few different machines at the show and this machine won my heart.

Hubby is a real keeper! I didn't even have to convince him!

riutzelj 03-29-2014 12:11 PM

Even if money weren't the issue, i'd have to convince mine to let me have yet another room for sewing/quilting since it wouldn't fit into my sewing room. Or i'd have to switch rooms, which i've seriously considered anyway. Congratulations on the new toy/tool.

Cam's gram 03-29-2014 12:18 PM

Good for you! Enjoy!

Onebyone 03-29-2014 12:31 PM

Congratulations!! What would you have done if he said No you can't buy that. LOL I always wonder about this when I read someone's DH said yes you may. I have tested just about very brand of mid arm and long arms. I still can't make up my mind if it is something I want to commit too. I don't like loading the quilt top on any of them but love to quilt with them.

quiltstringz 03-29-2014 01:41 PM

Congrats - you will have a wonderful time

Tartan 03-29-2014 02:00 PM

Congratulations!

Well I didn't really ask - but we consult each other on big purchases. I am really glad he bought that boat a few years back LOL!

I just died laughing when I read this because I am thinking about getting an HQ sweet sixteen and how to bring up the price with hubby. I figured I might be OK because he just bought a boat last month!

suebee 03-29-2014 06:41 PM

FANTASTIC!!! Have a great time with your machine. Hubby sounds like a real keeper:)

Kwiltr 03-29-2014 08:12 PM

I love my Sweet 16! And yes, my husband has a boat ;-)

huntannette 03-29-2014 08:17 PM

lucky you.....I tried it out and loved it.....wish I could afford one

lfletcher 03-30-2014 05:25 AM

A boat purchase was the reason I got my longarm as well.

I tested one at my local sewing store, but was disappointed that it required a foot pedal. The pedal messes with my calf muscle and caused discomfort for several days after my 5 minute test drive.

Sewnoma 03-31-2014 05:00 AM

This thread is cracking me up....I wonder how many boat/longarm households there are across the nation!? LOL

I got to play around on a $30K longarm machine this weekend...oh man was that fun. I think I'm glad there is absolutely no space in my house for it, that way I'm not seriously tempted...plus we don't have a boat, LOL.

fayeberry 03-31-2014 06:29 AM

That's wonderful and I hope you really enjoy it for many years!

fangman 03-31-2014 06:35 AM

Enjoy your new machine.

Emma S 03-31-2014 06:55 AM

Show us your first project!

When I first got my LA I was very anxious about loading also. I found that I just developed a system that worked for me and always am very generous in cutting backing and batting. Now I can easily load quite quickly.

linhawk 03-31-2014 07:37 AM

When I bought mine, I called him and said, "I don't have enough in my checking account,
which credit card should I use?"

roserips 03-31-2014 08:18 AM

Lucky, lucky you they are a very nice machine and I hope you enjoy it and quilt lots of quilts for us to see and enjoy.

Maire 03-31-2014 08:20 AM

I bought the Babylock version, Tiara, last Oct. Same machine. I tried all the different brands at sewing expo, liked the Sweet 16 & Tiara the best. My local (very good) dealer carries both machines & at the time Babylock was doing a special promo so she was able to give me a better price. I just love it, and have done several quilts, great fun.

pegquilter8 03-31-2014 08:28 AM

So happy for you. I too would have no problem convincing my Wonderful Hubby. BUT I need another room already and I'm not sure I would push so far as to add on to the house.:o

Barbpr 03-31-2014 10:17 AM

Wow..good for you. Enjoy! Missed the show and still in Iowa due to storm!

MargeD 03-31-2014 11:54 AM

Congratulations on acquiring the HQ Sweet Sixteen, I'm so jealous. Maybe someday I'll win the lottery and be able to get one, and the space to put it. Happy quilting.

wraez 03-31-2014 12:11 PM

well I am green with envy, kudos to your hubby for supporting your passion

Jingle 03-31-2014 12:46 PM

Good for you. I will never get one, no room for one. My Husband doesn't have a boat, nor does he want one.

caspharm 03-31-2014 02:27 PM

Congratulations! Enjoy it.

JanieH 03-31-2014 03:14 PM

Congratulations - I have my heart set on one but can't afford it right now. Pet it for me!

DonnaPBradshaw 03-31-2014 06:45 PM

It's fun to read when someone bites the bullet and gets a long arm. I'm holding out not to buy one! I've read too many posts of the learning curve to be a big frustration! no I'll keep paying someone to quilt my big quilts for me!

AnnieSue 04-01-2014 01:27 PM

I hope you love it!! I do.

joyce888 04-01-2014 01:33 PM

Congrats! Nothing better than a partner who supports your passions!

Sew Freak 04-01-2014 06:22 PM
