My husband is complaining that I've made quilts for everyone except him. I'm looking for something that isn't too girly and doesn't have triangles (I'm awful at matching the points). Any ideas?

Thanks.

I made my DH one and used dark green, browns tans rusts. I like scrappy quilts. It was a string quilt.

I have a book called "quilts for men, from crib to dorm to den"

Guys do love flannel and I usually stick to something like Yellow Brick Road or the take 5 patterns. I like big chunky pieces and dark colors in sports or outdoor themes.

I like Boxed Squares. Here's a link to many that have been made by members of this board.

Just don't use floral fabs, pastels. Flying geese are great worked up. Does he want a lap quilt. Choose five fab and make a turning 20 quilt. Works up quickly. All squares and rectangles.

I like the Depression Block and have made several. It can be masculine or feminine. This one I made for a man at work.

I made a log cabin quilt for a male relative using civil war reproduction fabric.

Dark flannel is good. Especially mixed with jeans.

Also, if he has a collection of t-shirts maybe a t-shirt quilt.

These are three quilts I've made. The first is coffee themed for my SIL. The second is a Judy Neimeyer pattern I paper-pieced for my DH. The third was actually made for my DD but my DH loves it as much as she did.

I think it is more the colors that would make a quilt "manly" or "girly" rather than the pattern. Just use darker colors fabrics, outdoor themes or whatever he likes, and you can pretty much use any pattern that suits your fantasy. IMHO.

How about some variation of good old Turning Twenty? Simple to make, looks good, you can use a variety of fabrics he likes.
