do any of you have problems when sewing a diagonal line? i wanted to mark it all first but changed my mind. so i am wondering does any one mark or as time goes on will i get straighter lines without the marks?

I too mark mine, I thought once to try it without marking, spent more time ripping than I would have if I would have marked in the first place. There is a little tool, if you will, its just plastic that you tape to your machine that has a line that runs from your needle towards you that when you sew you are supposed to run the corner of your square up towards the needle to keep you straight(if that makes sensehow I said it)I tried marking my machine with tape, but have better luck with marking.

I learned the hard way it is always better to mark a diagonal line. I use chalk, which rubs right off.

I generally mark if the piece is larger than about 2". If I don't, I tend to get a little wonky. It takes a little bit longer, but if you don't have to rip it out, it saves time in the long run. :)

I have a quilting bar, it attaches to the foot that has a hole in it. I decide what with I want the diagnal grid. I scotch tape it real good to hold it in place. Otherwise it moves on ya!! You do your first qulting and then rest the bar on that quilting and the width is there as you quilt the next row.
