Is there any type of tool/ruler that you can use to help mark markings for doing a blanket stitch evenly ...OR does anyone have an idea ???

Never heard of it, what is it ???

I just use a visual point on the pressor foot to remain the same distance to the edge of the fabric pieces while doing the blanket stitch.

I did it once by hand using a marking pen and a regular ruler. I now use my serger for finishing edges, or the blanket stitch on my sewing machine.

this is tiger tape http://www.oldmadequilts.com/tiger_tape.html and it mentions blanket stitch specifically

What are you wanting to mark?
For blanket stitch you go next to the edge and stitch ... just find the right spot to line it up, and then go. The machine does the rest.

I prefer the "not-so-perfect" look of blanket stitch where it is not completely even, so I am no help at all. piecefully, the old one

Tiger Tape!! Now I know what to get my sister for a gift! She loves to blanket stitch by hand and is always trying to make it perfect!

are you doing it by hand or machine??

I have a "secret" way to do it by hand that locks in the stitches and keeps them from wandering around making that Uneven look!

Ditto here -- it is my personal challenge to see how even I can get them............

Happy stitching !

Nancy's Notions sells a rotary cutter/blade that makes the holes evenly spaced for you. I think it's about $14. I saw it in her catalog.
