Marsha McCloskey's feathered star patterns

Does anyone know if all of Marsha McCloskey's feathered star patterns are paper pieced? I love paper piecing, but not crazy about making 1 inch HST or Y-seams. I'd like to order one of her books, but I'd like to make sure of the method before I do. TIA.

I remember Marsha McCloskey from when I first started quilting. Not sure if those can be paper pieced. That came along later.

agreed. i got her books in early 90's before the paper pieced fad. she gives excellent, clear instruction & tips for accurate piecing via machine. all patterns can be converted to paper piece technique & pp patterns can be converted to simple piecing ...directions for converting to paper piecing can be found on carol doaks website plus free patterns to practice & learn technique.

I took a class with her a long time ago and our stars were not paper pieced.

Linda Franz has the inklingo feathered star if you want to hand piece it, although you can also machine piece her product.
this site has a free pattern http://www.threadedquilting.com/home...r-free-pattern
this author has a book on pping https://www.amazon.com/Flock-Feather.../dp/1611690803

I don't have a bucket list but if I did Feathered Star would be on it!
I have the 2003 edition of McCloskey's book right here, no paper pieced, she seems to prefer doing template cutting and construction.

I was just looking into making the pp feathered star block. Found 2. Quiltmaker issue #179 from Nov/Dec 2016 has a great pp pattern. Also Craftsy has a free downloadable pattern. Pinterest has great fabric and color ideas. I ordered 5 yards of various reds to make my quilt red and white.

I've taken two workshops from Marsha McCloskey. One of them was five days and the other was two days. She taught us how to draft our blocks. I loved her instruction. She is my favorite teacher.

She is all about precision piecing, not paper piecing. She did mention that others use paper piecing, but not her.

Attached are pictures of the quilts that I did from her workshops. The first one was before I had finished my first quilt.
