Marshall Dry Goods

Has anyone bought fabric from them? Are they a wholesale site? They seem to have very good prices.

Dyan 10-29-2012 04:04 PM

If it is the one in Charm Ohio, I have been there, it is right in Amish area of Ohio, It is a nice shop friendly and I would buy from them.

I searched the web for Marshalls dry goods and THIS is NOT The same one...sorry.

BellaBoo 10-29-2012 04:10 PM

It's about two hour drive from me so I shop there all the time. I see quilt shop owners shopping there every time I go. From OK, Tx, and other surrounding states. You don't need a tax number to buy. The front of the warehouse is fabric by the yard and flat folds. The back of the warehouse is fabric sold by the bolt. You can buy at wholesale price if you buy the whole bolt. it's all name brand so if you order a name brand fabric that's what you get. Only a fraction of the fabric is on the website. If you call or email for a particular fabric someone will look for you. All the name brand quilt shop fabrics are there except Moda. No precuts except the flat folds.

I have bought from them online and also went last year to the storefront in Batesville, Arkansas. It is huge and you can spend many hours looking and buying. It is the only place I can find Warm & Natural that is 120" wide and for such a good price. I have never been disappointed with the service or the fabric.

ging10ging 10-29-2012 04:28 PM

sandraa, May I ask you the web site I'd like to look at it. Thanks. Sue

rebeljane 10-29-2012 04:29 PM

rebeljane, Thanks for the site. Sue

Marycumi 10-29-2012 04:54 PM

I have been to the store twice and have not been disappointed either time. Good friendly people to work with.

ShortRound 10-29-2012 05:19 PM

I order fabric from them often and have not been disappointed but once and they quickly replaced that fabric. My sister and I have ordered a few of the "bundles" and split the cost and fabric. I recommend them.

sewbeadit 10-29-2012 05:32 PM

Yes, I have and like them too.

grammy of 6 10-29-2012 06:32 PM

I am very happy with my interactions with them. I have ordered several times and will not hesitate to order again.

Are these older fabrics, from seasons past perhaps?

QuiltingGrannie 10-29-2012 07:22 PM

I've not ordered from them yet. They do sell wholesale, but you may need a tax ID number and you have to contact them to set up wholesale pricing. I know a lady that buys from them all the time. Goes a few times a year to stock up.

AZ Jane 10-29-2012 07:32 PM

Great prices on batting!!!

carslo 10-30-2012 05:49 AM

I purchased some extra wide backing from them and it is fine.

BellaBoo 10-30-2012 05:58 AM

It's new designs and older. If you ask to be put on the wholesale email list, the emails will have pics of all the new fabric arrivals and what the cost per bolt will be. I haven't seen any new fabric sell for over $3.98 a yard per bolt.

pollyjvan9 10-30-2012 05:59 AM

I have not bought much fabric but what I have I was very satisfied. I buy the Hobbs 80/20 by the roll from them. They say 7 to 10 days for delivery, but I have gotten it in 3 days. At a VERY good price.

lakekids 10-30-2012 06:52 AM

When I search the web site the only batting I find is 100% polyester.

iwillquilt 10-30-2012 08:07 AM

Thank you for the site. I just bought some flannel for $3.99 a yard. Not fancy prints. But I wasn't wanting fancy. Beautiful lumberjack plaids. Perfect for what I wanted.

damaquilts 10-31-2012 03:28 AM

I ordered the 108" backing from them . Exactly what I have seen elsewere for twice the price. And it shipped fast too.

KathyKat 10-31-2012 04:15 AM

Ok, I just spent an hour browsing their site!:o Love the choices for wide backing(108" for $7.99/yd!). Also lots of blender fabrics which I have trouble finding around here for reasonable prices. Licensed fabrics, fleece, lots of different designer lines...you have to take a look! Thank you for this post and all the great comments!

Due to a trip related to an unexpected distant family death, I spent over three hours shopping there in early January this year and it was fantastic. So much to choose from and great selections. I also shopped their "rejects" for $1/yd. Many of those would have been unusable but some only had a streak that hadn't taken the dye down the length of the piece. Hello, I am a QUiLTER! I cut this stuff up! I bought 8 yds of a beautiful green I have used and used. I bought lots of finds from that big bin. You have to look but I love a bargain. Of course, I spent time and money all over the store. They even had a nice batik selection.
Since I am from North Carolina, I stocked up and spent nearly $400. I filled the spaces between our luggage (we motorcyclists pack light) in our SUV and some in the back seat. Our Dog was a bit cramped coming home but he's only 17 pounds! I have already used much of this for Project Linus quilt tops so it sews up great. Lots of choices especially for preteen boys which is my target age of choice.
Now I have a dilemma. That is, whether I'd rather go to Arkansas or Maine (Mardens). Both have great selection and prices. What delicious choices!!! Right now I am hunkered down to winter sewing so I have lots of time to think about what I'll do. . . unless there's someplace else equally "fabriclicious" with fantastic prices???

tbumgarn 10-31-2012 05:25 AM

I have bought material and even been to the store. Marshall Dry Goods is like most fabric stores they carry a variety of brands- some good some bad. I have never been disappointed with what I buy off line but have to be picky when at the store. They have bargin tables set up for people looking for a great price but the material can be flawed- but you can only get this at the store. I live about 2 hours away and love to go to the store and shop- I can get a discount with my tax number but my husband has banned me from going until I use some of my stash up. He says he is tired of having to share his space with fabric. Marshall has great prices and I have no plans to quit buy on line since my husband never told me I couldn't. The store is great to work with and ships my orders fast by first class mail. I also shop from Fabric.com alot. Hope this help you make the decsion to try them. If you buy and are unhappy with the material let me know and I might be able to buy it from you.

ms sewer 10-31-2012 06:04 AM

I have ordered from Marshall Dry Goods online. Mostly backing fabrics. The fabric has always been a good quality.

Slow2Sew 10-31-2012 06:36 AM

I make the 200 mile round trip to Marshall's if I have a large project in the works. If you get a chance to visit the store, be sure to check out their bargain table. Most of the fabric is good quality that has a misprint on it, but still plenty of good print to use. Seems like I paid $1.00 per yard the last time I bought it.

LisaGibbs 10-31-2012 06:39 AM

I have bought from them online and was more than pleased with the service and the price of the fabrics.

matraina 10-31-2012 06:48 AM

Speaking of Amish Country, is anyone going to the Amish Shop Hop this Friday? I'm going to be on a bus that "A Piece in Time" quilt shop arranged for those who wanted to go. It's $65 but they take you to all the shops in one day and they stop in Amish Country for lunch. It's my first one and I'm looking forward to it.

Carol34446 10-31-2012 09:22 AM

Thank you for web site, looks great and great prices. Can't wait to have money to order.

conniemaried 10-31-2012 09:53 AM

I wandered in there by accident (they have a HUGE sign on the side of the building that says FABRIC) I was in Batesville while on a camping trip. I spent every spare penny we had and was amazed at how much it bought. We are planning a trip there as my Christmas present!

Momo 10-31-2012 10:25 AM

Thanks for the link. Great site. I will be going back there to look again.

donna13350 10-31-2012 11:11 AM

I've ordered several times on line..fast shipping and they've always gotten my order correct..one of my favorite on line shops!

My time 10-31-2012 06:21 PM

Well, well, well, another online store. I had no idea!! They have a nice selection of nautical fabrics. I know because I just checked. Does this franchise have any affiliation with the Marshall stores you see in every major mall? Just wondering. Thank you Rebeljane for sharing this with us.

liont 10-31-2012 06:59 PM

When I move back to US next year, I will be 10-12 hrs away from Batesville. Haha.. a little unreasonable to drive all the way there to check it out. But I can definitely plan a road trip to pass by that place:cool:.

lisalovesquilting 10-31-2012 07:15 PM

Help. I went to the site and tried to order some panels. When it came to putting in my info I couldn't get it to work. Am I doing something wrong?

Toni C 10-31-2012 07:55 PM

I love them. Always great service fast shipping and great fabrics. Who could ask for anything more?
