Martelli Rotary Cutter

I was using my Martelli and the spring came off. I saw it fly and heard it ping when it hit something but I can't find it. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement spring for it? I don't want to have to purchase a new cutter just for the spring.

I have great sucess with calling the manufacture with issues like this. Most times they will send replacements or coupons.

Mine did the same thing, then just broke. I would not get anther one. I thought I would like the shape of it but I just could not get used to it.

I had the same problem. I loved the angle and how it cut - so, bought another. Happened again. I just use it without the guard - yep, very dangerous. The bad part is, Martelli does NOT stand behind their products!!!!

I have one but do not care for it!

DebraK 01-11-2013 09:48 AM

yeah, I'm too used to using the other kind.

I called Martelli and they sent me a new spring. I've never had any trouble with Martelli not standing behind their products. My cutter even had the inner piece of plastic break when I was cleaning it and they replaced it for me as well. I say call them. I'm sure they will send you another spring.

I recently got a martelli cutter. I do really like it though it did take some getting used to. I did wonder about the longevity of the springs so glad to hear they can be replaced if necessary.

Here is maybe a dumb suggestion. Do you have a vacuum that you can put a nylon over the end of the hose and try to find the spring that way? And you will get the double benefit of some cleaning at the same time. I've lost my religion more times than I can count over such happening. Changing a watchband--the little pin that holds the end to the watch goes flying into outer space.

Contacted Martelli this afternoon and got an email back from them already. They are going to send out a new spring for me. Will just have to figure out how to put that little bugger back on there!!

I have two Martelli rotary cutters. The first one is about 4 years old and the second one I purchased last fall. The newer one has been redesigned with a different handle and heavier spring. Not long after I purchased the first one the spring did come off. I called Martelli and within a few days I received TWO replacement springs along with the instructions on how to replace the spring.

I got to know some of the Martelli folk through various venues. They do stand behind their products and if you contact them they will send you a new spring FREE!

I can't use mine anymore as the joints on my fingers don't take any stress. I keep it on display with my quilting memories. Darn it, because I liked their rotary cutter. Oh well.

My rotary cutter just popped its spring, I will contact Martelli first thing in the morning. I may need a replacement depending on how fast the spring comes, as retreat is in less than two weeks!

Contact the company. They are awesome to work with. I had an issue with a product that I bought at the quilt show and they had a new item in the mail to me the next day; even before I could send the old one back to them. Just google them and email them.

If they do not stand by their product I would report them to the Better Business Bureau..that will get results for you!!!!!

Martelli has replaced springs several times for my friend and took care of me when I had a problem. They have good CS.

cmilton 01-18-2013 11:04 AM

they will replace the cutter.

I called Martelli today as I have the very same problem. The lady I spoke with was very nice and I ordered a repair kit. I love my Martelli rotary cutter. I no longer suffer from cutting because of arthritis. I can cut all day without any problem. Im planning on buying a 60 degree rotary cutter from them very soon.

Martelli also has videos online to help you to replace your spring, clean your cutter and even the correct way to use your cutter.

joe'smom 09-06-2018 05:59 AM

I love the stress free cutting with this cutter, and have found Martelli to be very willing to replace parts. They have replaced the bolt for me, and advised that I was pressing too hard.

Their videos are essential in understanding the proper way to hold and clean the cutter. You can easily pop the spring off when cleaning if you move the guard too far. By the way, I recently bought the Martelli cutting mat and have found that the blades last much longer when used on their mat.

I have never had an issue with a Martelli product that they did not stand behind. When I lost a spring on my rotary cutter, they just sent me on at no cost. And when I ruined the bolt that holds the cutter together, they sent me a new one at no cost. I love this company, its products and service.

There are some excellent You Tube vidoes on how to use the martelli cutters and how to replace its blades. Also, if you are ever at a quilt show where Martelli are vendors, they will show you the correct way to use their cutter. Once you get used to it, you will never go back to the old cutters! I love mine!

I found it works better to use the Martelli cutter with the round Martelli mat (wonderful mat). I use the regular cutters with regular mats. I'm still getting use to the Martelli cutter though. I found the videos Martelli has is very informative in using the cutter and taking it apart and putting it back together.

I use a lot of Martelli products and they have ALWAYS replaced anything that broke and it's always been right away and free. Love their customer service and their products.

romanojg 11-06-2018 04:41 AM

contact Martelli, they are awesome to work with. I had an issue with something that I bought and they sent me a new one asap.

SusieQOH 11-06-2018 06:00 AM

I have a Martelli rotary cutter and I like it. So far no problems but I don't like it any more than my other ones.
