I have some templates of hers but was wondering if you have to put the 1/4"dot on each piece of fabric. If you cut lots of hexagons thats a lot of dots. Directions don't tell how to do it.
Thanks, |
I'm not familiar with those templates but maybe you could just "eyeball" the 1/4"

Sounds like a TV watching job!

Well, are you hand piecing or machine-piecing?
How well can you gauge a 1/4" by eye? If you're joining hex to hex, then it's all inset seams, "y" seams. You don't sew to the edge as you would if you were joining 2 squares or straight strips. If it were me, I would mark a dozen, and sew them together (with either method) to get a sense of the where and why of starting and ending sewing on each line. Then try a couple by eye. If you're comfortable enough, and the results are good enough, you can do it by eye. If not, start making dots. Otherwise, it's going to be a wonky mess. |
I marked them all when starting out, then once I got to going, I only marked about half of them :D:D:D
