I went to our local goodwill the other day and picked up around 4 yards of this beautiful reddish/orange material (cotton or cotton/blend) and they had a bedsheet of a black/white pattern that was just gorgeous plus a few other pieces of material..Paid less than 10.00 ..All total I guess it was right around 12 yards of material combined.. Now I have a stash that is growing..Yipeee :-D

Good for you! You are hooked now! Watch that stash grow, and grow, and grow..............

You found a great bargain. My stash was started by buying at thrift shops. Infact I still look for fabric there. Just remember to wash as soon as you get home. You never know how it was stored or what was in someones home.

"wash as soon as you get home. You never know how it was stored or what was in someones home."
With this day of bed bugs, it's so important to wash!!!

Bonnie hunter would be proud. I too buy fabrics this way. Well not lately, I'm on a fabric diet...bummer.

I just bought three different fabrics for $7.50 at Goodwill yesterday. One was 7 yards that I can use as backing. :-D

I have yet to find any fabric at any thrift shops I frequent.

I went to a Goodwill a couple days ago while on vacation. I tried to look for fabric but I just could not get past the smell of everything in there. Ick. I couldn't even bring myself to dig through the bins for fear of touching something really gross in there. I had planned to look for a sweatshirt so I could try that cool jacket pattern in the tutorial section but I couldn't find one I thought I would wear, they were all so dingy and worn out. Luckily, I found a brand new one at Walmart on clearance for a buck fifty! I buy stuff for my house (decor stuff) all the time in thrift shops, Goodwill etc. but I can't do the textiles. Glad that the rest of you can and so happy YOU find good deals there!

I found 13 yards 92 inch wide nice muslin at my thrift shop for 4.00----brand new looks like it was just cut off the bolt or rolled off the bolt. Washed it and will roll it onto a cardboard decorating fabric roller. I also found 1 1/2 yards of a pretty cotton print for 50 cents. When you can find stuff like this---why bother with the shops? My shop does not smell bad and my hands get washed right away!
