so, i want to do this block for the black/white/brights swap.
http://www.quilterscache.com/L/LadyoftheLake2Block.html but it is for a finished 12" block and the swap blocks need to be 12 1/2" finished. (duh!) the last time i tried to do this i ended up doing it all wrong and it was a mess. anyone good with math and wanna tell me how big to cut the pieces in order to make a 12 1/2" finished block? lol -- speech, reading, english, esol, and journalism certifications - not a bit of math anywhere to be found! |
If this is a swap on this board it is likely a 12" finished or 12 1/2" unfinished. You should be fine with that size and directions.

Just a "heads up" I have found that they tend to use scant 1/4" seams on their patterns :D:D:D

12 1/2" finished block means just that. It will be 12" finished once the blocks are sewn together for a top. Cut this just the way the pattern says, use a scant 1/4" seam and when the block is done it should measure 12 1/2 inches.
The directions (where it says 12"finished) is refering to after it's in a quilt. Don't feel bad, I got really confused on this at first too. |
hahahahah
see my math is so bad i can't even READ numbers -- no wonder my stuff comes out wrong!!! i'm trying to think!!1 whoops! |
