I maybe trying to do the impossible .i want a 2 1/2 inch finish square using triangles.. what size would i have to cut my triangles..the 2 1/2 square includes the 1/4 in. seam..I have been trying to do this all morning and it's not coming out. I want the square to look like a diamond in between the sashing..unless there is an easier way to do it other then triangles..
Thank You in and advance.. Loretta.. :-( |
Not 100% sure what you are asking. Do you want a pieced cornerstone with a square set on point, so it would look like a diamond?
|
yes i think so..not sure of the name.

like a square in a square?
|
yes ma'am
|
are you talking about like a sqaure in a square. Put the square on point and cut the other squares to sew on each side.

Are you asking how to do something like "A"
If "A" is what you are trying to do, the squares need to be a "couple of threads" larger than 2.25 inches (cut size) The actual size is the ((square root of 3.125) plus 1/2)) (1.768 + 0.500 = 2.268) For the triangles on the sides - I would cut squares 2.25 inches (which is a bit over sized) - cut them in half diagonally - sew them on the square - and then trim the square in a square unit to 3 inches - which should end up being 2.5 inches "finished" size (I think the math is correct - feel free to "do it right" if it's incorrect.) |
yes like A thank you I dont have a scanner so couldn't send a pic. and camera isn't charged
|
Please do only ONE to see if the math is right :? before cutting out a lot of pieces.
