I'm not Einstein here, but we recently got a new mattress, and kept the old one for the kids when they come to visit. I didn't want to put it in the basement to get mildewed. So, I cleaned out a place for it against the wall in my sewing room. Lo and behold, a design board! I keep a mattress pad on it to protect it from dust, my inspirations are pinned to the pad. When the kids come I just take off the mattress pad, my designs are saved, and they no longer have to sleep on the couch.

I think you are Einstein!!! Great thinking & recycling too!

I did that too for awhile. Seemed my grandchildren began to come more often then and I had to continually interrupt my work to make the bed for sleeping. I can't give up a minute with them so I gave up the design wall. I hadn't thought ahead far enough to use the mattress pad to pin to. That is a super idea.
Enjoy.
Regards, Dorothy

Guess what, I have a mattress leaning against the wall in my small back bedroom because I decided I didn't need a bed in there but didn't want to get rid of the good mattress and box springs. I have it covered with one of my quilts.

I'm going to take it down and use it for a BOM project.

Great Idea!

What a great idea!! I wish I would have thought of that.

My daughter and her husband moved in with us a month ago and I didn't know what to do with the extra bed in that room so this was our solution. My younger daughter loves it and is bummed that they are moving out soon and she will have to "come back to earth". :-P

Hello G'ma Kay

An excellent idea for a design wall, thanks for that

littlehud 06-09-2010 08:05 PM

What a great idea. A dual purpose mattress. Good thinking on your part.

DebraK 06-09-2010 08:54 PM

you're a clever one G'ma Kay ;-)

when you store a mattress ]be sure and put a mattress pad on the back (bottom)too. It keeps the bare mattress from touching the floor or walls.
