Cathy, so relieved to here that things seem to be picking up! The vandalism is awful but I guess it could have been far worse; best wishes to your daughter.

Thank goodness her belongings and business are okay. I'm not a bleeding heart so I think all looters should be shot in the knees on sight! Why would anyone want a sign they can't use? Mean nasty people live in this world.

Prayers going out for you and your daughter here. Who knows why someone would take the sign. Some people are just not nice.
hugs!!

h Thank you very much for the update ! Glad her house was ok and she was able to grab some more of her more cherished items  As for the landlord, I understand better now that it has been more explained. I can understand his worry for his wife and children, then probably only having limited space in the vehicle. So glad for the good news this Monday morning. Still praying it all works out.

So glad to hear that her house & business are OK! And that she got to go in & get her quilts & other things. That is rotten about the sign, but at least all the rest is intact.
Good luck to her on her open house!

I am so terribly sorry for what you are going through. We will send prayers and positive energy that all will be spared.

Know you're being thought about in Texas. Wishing you God Speed!

Glad your DD is ok and the house was spared. Sorry about the sign. What is the matter with people. Makes you wonder.

according to the link, someone so kindly posted, it seems things are getting better. Evacuations have been lifted, but it ain't over till the fat lady sings, so still saying p's, and sorry that your daughter and you and hubby, etc. have had all this anxiety. We had some fires, and every year, we have to face potential tragedy due to hurricanes.
You never know how it feels, till it's time to grab a few things and run...where to go, how to eat, how to pay for stuff...can you even get a room? etc. how to deal, with what you leave behind.
Life is the most important thing, and should always be top priority, but the sadness and grieving from loss of personal posessions, is underestimated. I go crazy, trying to walk thru my house and decide what I can get in trunk, with a hurricane on it's way. You feel guilt over picking and choosing, what you can and can't live without. Saw two family houses burn to the ground. It is bad to lose a lifetime of stuff. hugs to you all, quiltswithdogs.

On the radio this morning they were saying the the fire is 90% contained with a target of 100% containment by next Wednesday.
Thanks to all our great fire fighters!

OK... now I can tell you how this story ended for my sweet daughter.
In a nutshell, all your kind prayers worked wonderfully; her news is Great!

She is safe, no asthma problems, her little dog is safe, it was a close call for her house, but it and her possessions ie violin, quilts, photos, car, were not damaged, her business was not damaged by fire, her housemate's cat is fine, her business partner's grandfather's big house was not reached by the fire.

They did not cancel their Open house/ Ribbon-cutting Ceremony. Ash all over was cleaned up and guess what... their missing new business sign magically showed up in time! It turns out, the sign maker was worried about the fire reaching there so he took it for safe keeping! Even though a few of their biggest investors lost their homes and the whole county was still in flux, they had a great attendance of over 100 people! Even Girl Scouts came since she has been a big supporter. My hubby made the 8hour drive to help her. She wants Grandma and me to visit when she has time to spend with us. With my mom being 88 and my medical issues, we would have been a distracting concern for her during those days. Hubby says the people at the event told him stories about how she helped them. Nice.

Thank you again, everybody!
