have the guests that come to wedding sign a piece of muslin and then you could make a quilt at a later date

And maybe a DD willhelp you make a quilt for her sister -- she learns, you get help and finish and are now inspired to start on her quilt -- win, win, win.

Tell them you left your superwoman cape somewhere and can't find it. Once you find it, you can make the quilt, decorate the hall, bake the cake etc etc etc.

It's all about a wedding, not the gifts. If you spend all your time focusing on the gift, you won't enjoy the other! Exhale and enjoy the ride;)

Just enjoy helping with the wedding - wouldn't even consider bogging myself down with trying to make them a "wedding quilt" too. That would take the joy completely out of doing either thing. The quilt will come. Any: 1st-5th Year anniversary sounds good to me.

I have to just smile when people ask for a quilt to be 'whipped up'. I have a good friend whose boy friend was about to start chemo the next day, and she called to see if I could "make him a quilt for tomorrow?" Silly people. (For the record, we went and bought him 2 mircofiber coverlets, and stitched them together. He's 6'6")

We have tried to do wedding quilts in my family wth everyone contributing a block. Somehow we got off track. One couple is receiving a quilt in Nov. and they have been married almost 11 years. I say better late than never! This one sure didn't interfere with the wedding planning at least!

This is a great idea. How would the bride and groom like this?

Hang in there, you gonna make it! Just tell em they'll get a quilt later, maybe for their first anniversary.

People have no idea what goes into making a quilt.
