I would really recommend doing some practice on paper or a white board. I was trying to do a non-crossing meander but kept meandering myself into a corner. It really helped to practice with a whiteboard! I would draw a square, rectangle, triangle etc. then practice. I also would just start in the center and see if I could cover the whole board. I used a 12X18" board, a pad of newsprint paper this size would also work.
