Hey Jo Ann, I had the same problem and blamed myself for total ineptness. I had a chance to replace my rotary cutter for a larger one(60mm) and new blades, and found it wasn't me at all. My cuts are near perfect now, and I love quilting again. Rita

I had never used a rotary cutter before. my cuts were always off. HA! then I found out that the plastic nut holding it on was loose! Now things are much better and my blocks are looking more square now!

These are such great suggestions. I found that two things helped me a lot: 1. practice and patience and 2. using the blank side of the cutting mat. I found that if I wasn't trying to line the fabric and ruler up with lines on the mat then I was paying more attention to the fabric itself. And my cutting improved quite a bit.

Anita, Is the picture on your profile a quilt?

A customer of mine gave me a quilting table it folds into 3rds. It is brand new. she paid 149. for it. well this thing wobbles like a drunk! the screw keep falling out! Im going to flip it over tonight and seal the screws tight with polish and see if that doesnt help. grrr.

I wish that it was a quilt! It's really my ultimate quilting goal...to make a mariner's compass but I'm still a novice and have a long way to go before I tackle that pattern!!

I am a very short person (vertically challenged says my DSIL) and found that if I don't use the lower table to cut on with a rotary cutter, my cutting lines go astray much easier. You have to be over the ruler and fabric, if that makes any sense to you.

Sound like you would have great success with an Accuquilt GO! cutter, everything fits together perfectly. Good luck.
