Okay. I used graph paper figuring a 2.5" cut center and 2" cut strips.
This means the center finishes at 2" and each log finishes at 1.5" With the center square and 3 rounds of logs, I get a finished block size of 11". If you did the same with a 2" cut center square, you would get a finished block size of 10.5". |

Here's a PDF of a log cabin with a 2" finished center and 1 1/2" finished logs, just as Prism says. I thought it might help to have a visual.

Hi, You won't find one because the math doesn't work. A 2" strip finishes at 1.5". 1.5 does not divide evenly into 10". a 2.5" strip finishes at 2", and, as they say "2 goezinto 10 an even 5 times".

I was not familiar with this company but, wow!
I went to kits and found one, Kaffe Kats, using his wonderful fabrics. I really want to do this one. Thank you for posting the link. |
sarose48, just to be clear, Linda's PDF is for an 11" finished log cabin block. This is the one that uses 2" strips but has a center square that is cut 2.5" as you requested.

Prism99 - thanks for the heads up. Guess I will need to make one to get the exact measurements of each log going around. Thanks for your help, it is graciously appreciated.

Hi Rosalie - It was no trouble at all! I've sized it down to ten inches and attached it here. Let me know if you want it any other size - it takes about 15 seconds in ElectricQuilt.

Happy to help! I also love log cabins and just finished a huge one for my niece's wedding. Lots of fun picking out the setting. Have fun, Rosalie!
