and am having a brain freeze. When you are measuring for borders so you don't have a wavey quilt side, do you measure across the middle and use that, or measure middle, top bottom and take the largest measurement...or the smallest. Can't remember....gosh....I thought I would have a few more good years before the memory went

Some take the middle measurement..some measure top bottom and middle and average it out...

I have heard two different ideas. The first is to take the middle measurement. The second is to measure toward the top and measure toward the bottom and average the two. The same with the other direction.

Tellabella types faster than I do. lol

I fold the quilt top in half width wise and lay the folded edge on the border fabric and cut the length to fit, I refold the quilt lengthwise and measure for that size. Much easier then measuring across the full quilt top and then remeasuring the borders.

I'll have to try this. I always measure, measure and measure. This sounds much simpler.

Ditto, I do this and rarely have wavy borders.:)

For each set of borders - I take three measurements-
center - about a foot from the left edge - and about a foot from the right edge - and average the measurements.

(I admit - I do have a touch of OCD - but my borders ARE nice and flat!)
