okay how much in yardage is a 1/2 meter?

SharBear 07-25-2011 04:20 PM

A meter is just a pinch over 39 inches. 1/2 meter would be 19.5 inches - go with 3/4 of a yard to be safe!

sahm4605 07-25-2011 04:22 PM

actually it is being sold in 1/2 meters. trying to figure price that way.

for future reference Google:
1/2meter = ?inches

19.6850394 inches

= half yard {roughly 19.5}
i'd say 18" is closest comparison

A 1/2 metre is roughly 1 1/2" bigger than a 1/2 yard :D:D:D

If you are trying to compare the price of 1/2 meter compared to 1/2 yard, I would consider 1 meter 50cents more than 1 yard, if the fabric was 6.00 a yard, or 1/2 meter 25cents more than 1/2 yard. You are paying for 3 more inches or 1/12th of a yard.

Here in India, yardage is by meters.....38 inches a meter. But the width is small, just 32" to 34". So I usually buy more thanwhat the American pattern quotes. Just to be sure. But still I run of the fabric!! :roll: Thanks for reading. Radha

This is a good thing to remember if buying from out of the country (USA), ask about the width.
