Mega Quilter speed irregular

Hi all,
I have a Mega Quilter machine on a frame. When I push the button to quilt, the speed is inconsistent. And when I first turn it on. It go’s really fast for one or two seconds. I do not have the cruise control attached, as it was broken when I got the machine (used), although parts of it are still attached.
Any thoughts?

My first thoughts are the wiring to the buttons, or elsewhere. Do you have a repair-person handy to check the wiring, or maybe even an electricity savvy friend.

Welcome to the Board, by the way. You will get lots of help here.

is it controlled with button switches? My Gammill has those and they do sometimes were out--the needle up/down/single switch one controls power to both--so if it's bad my machine acts up--I just switch out the button and it's good to go again.

Your machine is almost identical to a Tin Lizzie..when I had that issue, the connection that holds the wire into the back of the machine was loose..they wear out over time, especially if you have any pull on your cable..I tried to find a pic, but couldn't. It's a round connection with pins in it, goes into your power box at the back of your machine.
If you don't see what I mean, I'll take a pic of mine for you..but bear in mind..I am recovering from a broken leg and it will be a real hassle to get myself behind my machine right now!
