Memory Baby Quilt
 

I’m going to start on a memory quilt for my niece using her baby’s clothes.
Pinterest has several options and they all say to use fusible interfacing.

What brand and type of fusible interfacing do y’all suggest?

I am not picky. I use literally whatever is on sale. Though tend to prefer the lighter weight options if i'm feeling snazzy enough to actually choose.

Pellon 906F, if the clothing items in question are stretchy.
I made a memory quilt from my grandpa's Hawaiian shirts and didn't need to use any interfacing at all.

Depends how you're going to lay out the quilt. I've made several where I would cut a square/rectangle piece of woven cotton then sewed the outfit on top, so no web needed. If I did just a t-shirt type, then I use a cotton fusible. Though it's a little more expensive than poly, it doesn't have any stretch and I find it holds up better.

You might test a few different fusibles to see what you prefer…when making tshirt quilts I use a light French fusible just because there is so much stretch. I also like to use Pelion Wonder Under (?) for appliqué pieces.

I cut the interfacing to size of block, then fuse it to the fabric. Use the interfacing edge as a cutting guide. It helps keep block from changing shape and size.

I would not use a heavy weight interfacing at all. I have been asked to take on a project where it was used on the baby's first Christmas outfit and for all intense purposes the piece has been ruined. So the quilt sits unfinished.

A lot of people in my area use Pellon Shape Flex. It's a fusible, woven interfacing. I have used it and like the lighter weight one. It's especially helpful with stretchy fabrics or fabrics that have worn thin.
