Memory Quilt - Help
 

Help, I was looking to see if there was any inf on a memory quilt. Would
like to make one but was looking to see if anyone had shared any pictures to
give me an idea to where to start.

I know that I've seen some on here; have you done a search. You could also do one on google. I havent' done one yet but want too and have recently gotten a great deal of doing the photos on fabric and writing on fabric. Good luck.

There are books by Wendy Etzel for great special occasion or specialty memory quilts. I made one in a bookcase shape from the first book, you can preview the book at Amazon:

Mine was made for my parents 50th wedding anniversary and shows them, their parents, their children and grandchildren. Some of the books have names for things that meant something to them.

Here is one I made for my DIL. I used the Double Irish Chain pattern. Not difficult to do.[ATTACH=CONFIG]319144[/ATTACH]

I haven't made one YET. (BTW, Kathy T, I love yours) One member of my guild made a picture album quilt for each of several family members. She used photos (various sizes and shapes) each with black corners added, like an old fashioned photo album. I had a commission to make a 50th anniversary quilt. I made a large tree, with leaves that were the names of family members. Around the edges, I made an inner border of vignettes, each representing something important to the couple involved. He was from Canada. I included a maple leaf. She was a teacher. I included and apple, etc. I am planning one with photos of many family members and symbol or 2 by each to let my GKs know what their relatives were about. There is no one (or even 10) right way(s) to make a memory quilt.

Holy Cow! They are gorgeous! Perhaps a memory quilt for each of my nieces and nephews. Think that'll buy me a few visits when I'm old?

Wow - Thanks for sharing, you have given me so much more to think about. I love the bookcase quilt, Kathy. I have never seem anything so different.
Gail - your quilt is very precious, so many photos, great job. Annie-best - those quilt are fantastic. All of you have such talent. I have a step-mother that has lost so much in the past few years, husband (my father) and two daughters from cancer. So much heartache, Was thinking of doing some kind of memory quilt that would include all three family members. I thought this would be simple but now have so much more to think about.
