Ok all of you creative genius' out here?

I need to create a memory quilt for a dear friend hubby that was killed on Saturday in an automobile accident.

Need to find "horse fabric", want to incorporate his love of horses in a rail fence pattern (his place is surrounded by the most wonderful white picket fencing) and photos of him with the memorial from funeral printed on the fabric

Please help with ideas this is a time sensitive issue.

What a sweet and comforting idea! My best friend's husband died, he was a marine with my hubby, and some one made her a quilt with his cammies. It was such a comfort to her.

I make lots of memory quilts....any pattern you use is great...I always incorporate some of the persons clothing into the quilt....Although using a persons favorite things in a quilt and his memorial info sounds great I do love the idea shown with the picket fence...what a nice tribute, I am sure his wife will love it

I've made a memory quilt for each of my kids as they've gone on to college. It represents things from their first 18 years at home. Here is the one I made my daughter this year.

I'm not sure you could do it since time is an issue, but I collect squares of fabric that represent their interests...collected for some time. I've done that because I've been too afraid to try applique, which would be fantastic.

Anyway, I've done this with my first three kids and will continue to collect fabrics as my younger two expand their interests. For example, my youngest son is getting into ping pong. I'll try to find some ping pong fabric and make sure his quilt has a square of that.

Looks good, how did you make the fencing?

oh I forgot to ask, it is ok that I use this idea? I thought I would print his pic and memorial in the center of the picket fence and put grass fabric surronded by barn fabric?

I made the quilt (sorry camera is broken, and no santa this year) she just loved it, although I felt bad because it made her cry. She is having such a difficult time (as any can imagine of losing your husband of 37 years), combined with the holidays.

I used the picket fence idea to frame (barn fabric) with pics of his memorial and his favorite saying in the middle. Then barn fabric around the fence and blue sky, and quilted horses in the border. The backing was all horses and I have to say that it turned out very nice.
