Memory Quilt
I want to make a memory quilt for my husbands 50th B-Day, does anyone have a pattern that is fairly easy
and will not take forever to make? Also any ideas on different or unique things you have seen on memory quilts?? Thank you |
I cannot for the life of me remember where I saw this but there were shelves with simple pieced bottles of wine and where the labels were they each had either a photo or friends had written something special about the person. I thought it was a great idea.
I also like this idea of a bookshelf http://quilting.about.com/od/picture...sary-Quilt.htm |
I LOVE the book shelf one. I made one for my sister. What I did was pick a neutral background. I then printed pictures on Ink jet friendly fabric. I framed each picture with strips of sashing, to go along with the picture size. I also hand picked the sashing fabric to match the picture (ie, a beach print for pictures at the beach, hearts for her wedding picture, etc.) I then measured the pictures to locate the widest and the tallest. I sashed the "framed" pictures so that I could cut blocks that fit the "largest" size. I sewed them together and the top was done. I didn't even put on a border.

Love the wine bottle idea. I have uded the yellow brick road pattern also. There are tons of pics of it posted here.

Double Irish Chain is the pattern I used for my DIL's memory quilt.
