When I was 18 an older gentleman who owned a yarn shop with his wife lovingly taught me to knit matching ski sweaters for my boyfriend and myself. He was a great and patient teacher.

My father in Law learned needlework and quilting in his old age and was really good at it . My husband just got a sewing machine and want to learn to quilt when he retires. Both he and his dad --- all, total MAN. Many men crochet and knit afghans so why not quilt? Quilting would be a success for most vets in that it is orderly and a mission is usually defined and quilting also has an engineering aspect as well. Quilting is definitely a man's sport!

One of the most amazing crumb quilts I've ever seen was by a (male) dentist who took a counted cross stitch pattern for The Last Supper and did it all with one inch squares of fabric! Absolutely amazing!!!
