Merry Christmas! :) ...get any quilty things?

Wishing everyone a wonderful day filled with lots of Joy!

I hope Santa brought you some Quilty treasures. Please share if you received any fun notions, fabric, or machines.

My Christmas came early a few months ago. I updated my Lizzie with a lovely Qnique 19 XL Elite. It is Heaven.

Merry Christmas everyone. No quilt items, but I did get some money that I will save for Quiltcon in February.
DH bought me industrial shelving for my space in our garage at our new house for my garden tools, flower pots, outdoor items. I can't wait to organize it in the spring.

My daughter that lives in California knows I do a lot of detailed work with sewing, quilting, and cross stitch. She sent me a table lamp and a floor lamp with the brightest lights. I can use the floor lamp by the machines and the table lamp next to my stitching chair. I think these lamps are as bright or brighter than the OTT lights. The design is more "modern" than I would have chosen, but as long as they help my eyes out I'm all for them.

Yes, tons of fabric, my husband told me to get as much as I wanted, so I did. Sadly this was because our LQS was going out of business. Fabric was 75% off, the business is closed now and they are going to travel.

Merry Christmas everyone! Missouri Star has a free quilt pattern download for Christmas this morning. That is the quilty gift I got so far. We open presents tonight.

My dogs got me a gift certificate to a local quilt shop. And hubby bought, all by himself I liked to add, a book about free motion quilting for me to use with my newly acquired sit down longarm. We requested no gifts from the kids (for the past 4 years). They finally got the message - Life is good.

Ha! I got a box of N95's from my nephew. Great present! Off to the quilt shop sporting my new mask! We only exchange a few gifts now as we all have too much stuff. Mostly "consumable gifts" The teens got a bag of M&M's, Werther's hard carmals for my brother in law, Chocolate covered cherries for my sister, and strawberry licorice for my nephew!

How is the pattern listed on M*? Couldn't find it & I'm sure I need another idea for next year...or the one after that!

WMUTeach 12-25-2023 10:14 AM

Santa heard my comments about "too much stuff" and honored my wishes for no more quilt "stuff" . I am in the midst of a continuing and serious down sizing of my sewing space. To be honest, I have all I need. Not just fabric miscellaneous tools too. I would have to look hard to find a ruler or gadget that I really wanted. I did treat myself to a Lori Holt book a couple of weeks ago because my quilting group is going to use it as a monthly quilt along. I can count that, I guess. Merry Christmas to all.

Onebyone 12-25-2023 10:21 AM

The pattern is on the website, big image that says Our Gift from Us to You.

Yup. I got 4 pieces of fabric. Must be a hint for another quilt--NOT taking any orders until I get everything else finished.

I did the trade-in of the GoBaby Accuquilt for the Accuquilt Go and some dies I've been wanting that wouldn't work with the GoBaby. I didn't realize that I had that machine since 2014! Only been used a few times because the dies I wanted were too large for it.

My son gave me a gift card to Amazon, and I bought a pattern and batting to make a bargello tree skirt. While I still have the holiday fabric out, I thought I'd prepare for next year.

LaurMac 12-26-2023 06:11 AM

I'm away visiting so I can't sew. Luckily I brought EQ8 on my computer so I can plan. I didn't finish my Christmas sewing because I had to stop and bake the rest of my gifts. So I guess I will be finishing up when I get back home.

My son gave me 2 new blades for my Silhouette Cameo, which I use for cutting appliques, and he also gave me a new 60mm rotary cutter. Sending warm vibes to the saleswoman that sold it to him - she advised him to buy the same style that I'm used to, which is the traditional style, as opposed to the "ergonomic" Martelli-style cutter. She was so smart! I would have struggled to get used to using it, plus every time I go to a quilt retreat where other people are using it, it drives me BATTY. They squeak horribly.

Got quite a bit of quilting gifts. Kaffe Fassett quilt kit I bought for myself. An Aurifil 12 spool neutral thread set from my husband who said the lady at the quilt shop said it was the perfect gift if you had no idea. And it is! I wasn't expecting him to do go in the quilt shop. LOL two Accuquilt dies from my daughter who wants a quilt made with the designs and two gift cards one to LQS and one to Hobby Lobby from my other daughter. Aslo a big basket of assorted chocolates from the grands which I consider a handy sewing room item.

tranum 12-26-2023 10:33 AM

Nothing quilty here. We did get a “Frameo” so I can load pictures and see the great grands cycle through as I sew and I’m liking that !

Anniedeb 12-26-2023 10:04 PM

Nope...no quilty things here. But, in all the years I've quilted, I've never gotten anything quilt related! I did get a lot of other wonderful gifts, so no complaints here. I do feel a need to head to the fabric warehouse soon, so I think I'll treat myself.

I love to reverse engineer things (nerd that I am). Here's how you can make a template for this pattern.
1) Cut out a 10" x 10" square of paper
2) Draw a line from the top left corner to the lower right corner (This is a red line in the first square in the image.)
3) Fold the paper so that the bottom edge is along the drawn (red) line. The yellow line in the second square is the fold line, and the black arrow shows how you will be moving the corner up to the line.
4) After the fold, your paper should look like the third square; the light green portion is the paper that is now bottom-side-up. Mark where the corner is on the line - this is the black dot in the third square.
5) Unfold the paper, and draw a line from the bottom left corner to your marked dot from step 4. (This line will match the main line of the black arrow in second square.)
6) Repeat steps 3 to 5 with the upper right corner.
7) At this point, your lines should make your square look like the square from the instructions - the fourth square. The two green triangles are your templates. (They should be identical.) The blue is excess fabric that you use to cut out rectangles for the tree trunks. (1.5" x 3.25")

The templates are equivalent to using a 45 degree wedge ruler.

My daughter bought me a Modern Quilting color book and some nice watercolor pens.

My beleaguered DH procrastinated on gifts until the last minute and ended up with me driving him to do his shopping (we have to travel from our small town). He wanted to go to the quilt store so I dropped him off and when I picked him up he had no package and said "they didn't have what I wanted." He is friends with the sewing machine repairman at fabric store and it was already on our list of stops so I went in with him. I have a new Janome from there and was chatting and looking at extra feet. DH knew a new rotary cutter was on my list so I pointed out a few items for him to choose from and left - come on, there has to be some mystery left. He bought everything I pointed to, but had come away with a $250 gift certificate from the first place so I really raked it in this year.

Gemm 01-02-2024 10:05 PM

I got a 6.5" square ruler. :D Small potatoes, I'm sure, for many of you, but I don't have many rulers (3"x18", 6.5"x24", and a 12.5" square). I've been cutting pretty much everything that isn't strips with the 12.5" square for years. Looking forward to having something a bit more manageable for cutting the smaller pieces! :-)

My big Christmas came in July when my Hubby bought me my long arm. I told him that is at least five Christmases and birthdays worth of gifts right there!
