In a MESS
I'm working on a little quilt for a new Great Granddaughter and I don't have enough fabric for the binding. Has anyone ever used Minky for binding? If so, how did it work out? I am at a loss as to the fix on this one. Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer.

Do you have enough you can splice it together?
|
Can you do a scrappy binding with different fabrics from the quilt top?

I don't have enough fabric - I though I would, but when I sewed it together I was about 100" short and that was splicing it many times. I do have minky left tho......

I was looking for a video that showed how to make binding out of a at quarter

It wouldn't be my first choice, but I see there is a blog posting about just that, maybe it might help you. http://myfeeddogsaredown.blogspot.ca...abric-and.html

You probably could use Minky for the binding but I think it would be a challenge because it is so stretchy and slippery. I have never done it. If it was me I would go out and buy a 1/2 yard of any coordinating color fabric---it doesn't have to match exactly to what you used in the quilt. Just find a solid or stripe with your colors and use for the binding. I have seen lots of cute quilts with totally different or contrasting fabric bindings, even like a black and white stripe binding on a color patchwork quilt.

You could also use a different fabric than is in the quilt as long as it was compatible. Unless you are trying not to have to go get some.

I would be afraid to use minky for binding... but that doesn't mean it will not work. I would probably go buy another 1/2 yard or so. Sorry that probably isn't the answer you wanted

I TOO would be afraid of using minky for binding. Have you cut the binding?? Have you looked at flange binding done by machine. It uses a lot less of you main fabric. I have also pieced my double fold binding with a neutral fabric sewn on the inside so it doesn't show.
