OK, I have updated the dates and the dates that the deposit is required
Please check that over before you make your decisions.

This is an evolving plan as I learn more about the B&B requirements

DazzleMe! 10-08-2008 10:44 AM

I would love to come. I am little worried about being in a group of ladies, I haven't met before, I haven't ever done this type of thing before. Its time to get out of the comfort zone, I am going to be coming. Once I send payment there will be no backing out.

Thank you for organizing this, I know it takes tons of time and energy!! :D

I do need to know where to schedule the flight to.

I do need to know where to schedule the flight to.

The closest airport is Wichita, Kansas.

Go ahead and check out the flights, but dont commit to anything until you hear from me that all the stars have alligned.

The reason is that the plans are still preliminary.. and we have not reached the minimum number ...I will keep you posted

Quilting Aggi 10-08-2008 11:35 AM

JStitch I am glad to see we have more time to decide. I too have to see if the stars align from my side (money and time off work) in order to go!

You are doing a fabulous job!! I hope you get enough people to go!

Jim's Gem 10-08-2008 05:07 PM

It sounds like a great time. I don't think I can get that week off of work, I missed 3 1/2 mos of work this spring and summer because of surgery and have a couple things going on in June and July next year. Maybe sometime in the future we can have one on this side of the Rockies

sewjoyce 10-08-2008 05:29 PM

My husband and I have discussed this and:

COUNT ME IN :!: :!:

Let me know when you need the deposit.

ccbear66 10-08-2008 05:30 PM

I'm really bummed. I really wanted to attend because it is only about a 4.5 hour drive for me but I already have plans to be in Jamaica that week. I hope everyone has a blast. I'll be thinking of you all.

sewsewquilter 10-09-2008 04:38 PM

Count me in. My only problem is you are only allowed one check in bag flying out of Key West because of the short runway. Will the B and B let me ship a box to them to arrive a day or so before I get there? I'll have to come without a sewing machine. I'm afraid to ship it.

Deb

jstitch 10-10-2008 06:22 AM

I would say, why dont you ship it to me and I bring it over.

Terri, how about we start a 2nd annual retreat for summer of 2010? maybe on the Coast somewhere... let me know when you know where you are going to be stationed...

Don't know what the plans are for when we leave here. I do know that we will be taking a full 30 days of traveling. Will have to wait until we get settled where ever we are going and find out if hubby will be still going to sea or be on shore duty. Once we leave here, this will be his last tour to give him 30 years.

Don't forget part of your 30 day travel trip is to here ducky!

Oh, I think the trip to you will be a seperate trip. That way, I'm not on a time constraint! :)

shellyp 10-21-2008 09:41 AM

Do we have enough people for this? I was going to send my check but wanted to see if it was a 'go' or not first.

jstitch 10-21-2008 09:45 AM

shelly,

Yes, we will go for it..

I will PM you with info and mailing info. Give me a couple of days to get that to you...

thanks

patricej 10-21-2008 09:48 AM

the change to the deposit deadline puts me on the "I'LL BE THERE" list, too. :-) :-)

mrspat 10-26-2008 08:16 AM

I'm really interested in this retreat. Can you tell me the nearest airport?

Sorry, don't mean to hijack...
Elle - DD & DH went to Spain last year as part of a school trip. They LOVED it. DD hopes to go back someday. As I wasn't going, the only thing I wanted them to bring back was fabric. Wow, who knew it was so hard to find?? A friend & fellow quilter also went, she did find a bit & brought me a small pkg - but laughed that it was probably from the States anyhow!

Butterflyspain 10-27-2008 03:20 PM

Yes, your friends must have had a job to find the material shops, they are few and far between, unless of course you go to the big cities. Out here in the sticks it costs 14 Euros a metre thats 17.4713 US Dollars.

Now you know why I get nearly all my fabric from the web, I can buy nice fabric for 4 or 5 Dollars and pay shipping and its still cheaper by far.

Just been exchanging the price of gas for the car and we are paying 1.08 Euros per litre that works out at 6.21 US Dollars. So those kind of things are expensive, I think everything else is fairly cheap, Cheaper than the UK that is for sure.

Elle

peaceandjoy 10-27-2008 03:26 PM

Ouch, that'd really put a dent in my stash! Actually, maybe that'd be good... It's taking over... I live near Mennonite shops, where we get LQS fabrics for $5 - $6 per yard. Not exactly LQS setting, though. Very kind, but very basic.

Truly wish this retreat was a possibility. One that the friend I mentioned previously and I have gone to for several years isn't working out this year. Unfortunately, flights from upstate NY to Kansas make it prohibitive.

There seem to be a lot of northeasterners... Maybe somebody will get another up for this part of the country.

I'll be joining the jealous ladies following the fun on-line.

Butterflyspain 10-27-2008 03:33 PM

Me to, I will be following this thread and am really looking forward to all the pictures. It will be fun, I know there is a quilt retreat in Spain, not sure where, perhaps I should look into that and then you could all think about coming here instead in a couple of years.

Elle

mrspat 10-27-2008 04:45 PM

Peace and joy, where in Upstate NY? You mentioned the Mennonites, are you near Little Falls?

mamatobugboo 10-27-2008 06:57 PM

I would love to come but since I already do 2 quilt retreats each year and also have 2 family reunions in the summer of '09 and the kids home from school for the summer, it just would not work for me to come...HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

peaceandjoy 10-28-2008 03:47 PM

About two hours west, in the Finger Lakes. Much of the area has been farmed for generations by families who are finding it more and more difficult to make a go of it. In the last 20 years or so, many Mennonites have moved to the area, buying up farms as they have gone to auction. We now have several Mennonite churches and schools in the area, as well as stores.

mary quite contrary 11-06-2008 04:34 AM

The first deadline is getting close. Is this still in the works?

Paganquilter 11-06-2008 08:10 AM

Gosh darnit... June? I'm looking at a potential Star Trek shoot around that time. Schedule hasn't been released yet, but by the looks of it from previous shoots, the two would conflict.

I'll be looking forward to pictures of the event, though! :) Lots and lots of pictures!

Quilting Aggi 11-12-2008 12:20 PM

It looks as though I am going to have to decline from this retreat. It seems we were discussing our trip for next year, and we both really want to go to Europe. We are seriously talking about France, and of course Paris. This could be a real trip of a lifetime. We are also looking to go to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Seems I won't be attending any retreats for a while. I am so sorry. It would have been fun, but I can't pass up an opportunity to see France.

I will think of you all while you are enjoying your retreat. One of these days I will go on a retreat. But for now I need to start brushing up on my French...

:(

Butterflyspain 11-12-2008 12:40 PM

How lovely is that you going to France though. But I can understand your disappointment, it would be lovely to meet everyone on the board.

You are not far away from Spain you know.........

Elle

Dorothy of Kansas 11-12-2008 03:30 PM

Judy, my husband won't be attending the retreat after all. Hopefully, I still will.

Monday is Dec 1st that means I need to get my money in. I am not missing this for anything - I don't care what happens I am going!!!!!!!

Where do I send my money?

jstitch 11-25-2008 07:52 AM

Since we have had little response in the way of actual commitment, I am going to re-plan this event.

It will be on a first come first served basis.. In other words, there will be a limited number of participants and I will admit you based on the receipt of your reservation deposit.

To secure your spot, please mail $35 to me at

***Edited by Patrice: sorry ... but we strongly discourage members from posting their personal addresses, eddresses and phone info in public. All who are interested should send jstitch a PM asking for her address.****

mary quite contrary 11-25-2008 08:21 AM

Who and how many do you have coming?

sewsewquilter 11-29-2008 06:51 AM

I am not going to be able to come. :( Sorry I have waited to the very last minute to make my decision. I was hoping I would be going. I work in the tourist industry and I am not sure want is going to happen. Yes, gas prices are down but people have lost money in their savings and are afraid to spend. Including me. So I will be thinking of all of you having fun in June. :D

ljsunflower 12-10-2008 08:33 PM

This is so cool! The forum I used to be on always wanted to have a retreat but we never could get enough people to commit to it.
Are you still doing it? Same place, same time?
We are planning a humongous trip out west in early June. Colorado, Wyoming, Montana & Idaho. We might be able to coordinate our trip with this retreat. Can you send me some details? Or how do I get in touch with you? Sounds like fun.
flower

ljsunflower 12-30-2008 09:40 AM

Well, I just noticed the dates - again - for this retreat. I won't be able to come to it because I'm going to be on a HUGE vacation out west during that time. And it just wouldn't tie in with that.
I hope all of you have fun!
Linda

mary quite contrary 12-30-2008 09:49 AM

Do we have another deadline coming up when our next payment is due?

jstitch 12-30-2008 10:11 AM

I am very busy this week on job search. I will contact you all with further details in the next couple of days..

thanks for asking Mary
