I just bought some metallic gold thread and I do not know what you use it for. 2.00 for box of 12. It just says SKD Crafts 40 yards. I tried looking it up but no web site. I think it is a wholesale only place. Anyone have any answers?
Thanks

embroidery---
what weight is it?
if it's 30, 40, 50 wt it will work well in a sewing machine (with a metallic needle)
if it is heavier- it will be better suited for hand embroidery
40 yards won't go far machine sewing- so i'm guessing it is hand embroidery thread

Thanks so much . It does not say what weight. Just 40 yards. crazy ...but I thought I could at least use it for hand embroidery.
I looked on the box and it just says Item # 1140 G.
I wanted to use in machine but I am afraid to.

I would check all the writing again and see if you can discover the weight number somewhere on it. I've never seen a thread that didn't have the weight on it. Sometimes it says NO.40 instead of 40 wt. or other things.
If you just want to use it for hand work it doesn't matter, but if you want to machine sew with it, you really should know that first. JMHO

I've read in various places to use a larger-eyed needle in your sewing machine with metallic threads. It sure can't hurt to try it out on samples (ie. potholders?) You could also take it with you to a sewing store and compare it with other metallic threads. Have fun :P :P
