When using metallic thead for free motion quilting on christmas projects do you use regular cotton thread in the bobbin or the metallic thread. Have never used it before. Any suggestions?

I use cotton bobbin thread.

Cotton in the bobbin is right.

I use bottom line in the bobbin and a needle meant for metallic threads.

What is the trick to metallic thread? Is there a particular brand that is better than most? I have both a Brother 1500 and a Pfaff (with IDT) and use a metallic needle and cotton in the bobbin, but have no luck...the thread ALWAYS breaks in both machines!

I love metallic thread but it doesn't love me. Sigh.

I use Superior's Metallic threads, Bottom Line in the bobbin, 90/14 topstitch needle. It always stitches beautifully.

I have had fabulous luck with Superior's metallic thread. I use Bottom Line in the bobbin and a metallic needle. Don't give up...just go a little slower, perhaps.
