Method for hanging small wall hangings

What type of hook do you use to hang small wallhangings? I have several wallhangings appx 18-24 inches wide with hanging sleeves and dowel rods. If I attach a ribbon to the ends of the dowel what type of hook should I use? It must be pretty as well as the last thing you want is a nail showing. What do you use?

I always just staple my quilts to the wall. Nails and thumb tacks make a lot larger hole. Using a stapler, works great, and you can hardly see any holes. Try it!

my sleeves do not go all the way to the edge, so the dowel does not even show. i put a ribbon or string on each end of the dowel with no slack. then the sleeve/dowel/cord does not even show... so it does not matter what kind of hook is used.

I use an old sewing machine needle in the wall instead of a nail...it's leaves a very small hole, easy to put in, and has a strong shaft. That size of quilt is light, one needle will do, but 2 keep the quilt better balanced. I like to use folded triangles in the corners and for the smaller ones a bamboo skewer works as a dowel...

There are so many ways. You can use Command strips if the quilt is within the weight limit stated on the package.

I use clear push pins. I've also used just a straight pin for something really light weight.

I use those command strips also.

I put up a short decorative curtain rod with command strips, then instead of adding a sleeve to the quilt, I use curtain rings with alligator (or is it crocodile?) clips.

I use magnets attached with command strips and a cheap metal rod in the sleeve

For my Christmas wallhangings, I attached Command strips to both the wall and the back of the wallhangings. It worked well and the strips easily pulled off.
