Micro fiber???????????
Has anyone here used micro fiber in a quilt. I have a grand baby on the way and my daughter loves the micro fiber baby blankets, so I was wondering about making a baby quilt with micro fiber.
|
I have used it as a backing fabric and it came out nice. There are lots of different weights of microfiber. Most micro fiber is on the heavy side and I would have concerns about mixing the weight with a lighter cotton.
I did not use it in piecing the top as its poly and really does not like to crease , and I like to really get my blocks flat. Combining it with cotton can be a problem and the poly will melt at the temperature you normally would use to press cotton. |
Lori S Using it for the back sounds like a good idea, since that is the side that is next to the baby anyway.

I agree I think using it for the backing would be fine.

I bought some squares of fabric not too long ago labeled Nu-suede. I thought it faux suede which is soft and doesn't ravel. turns out this is poly micro fiber. satin like on the back. so stay away from that. I am making it into a quilt but must do quilt as you go on it to keep the seams stitched well to prevent raveling.

putting it on the back sounds like a great idea.

I would probably just buy a micro fiber blanket and make a regular quilt. There's no reason the baby can't have both!
