what are these microwaveable bowls?

What is the point of having the microwave bowl warmer if you don't use them in the microwave. I have had mine inthere forever and no problems except one time had some polyester in the batting.

Warm and Natural has a thin layer of scrim (poly). I was told this by a batting rep.

I use the Warm Tater batting and have had no problems.

I think I'll just skip the whole potato/soup bag thing all together. It's just not that hard to grab a hot pad and that would probably be my first instinct anyway since I've been doing that for over forty years already anyway. I hope no one is ever seriously injured with these craft items. It would be such a pity since we all know others have had issues. I certainly wouldn't ever give either of these items to my loved ones. God forbid! JMHO.

Do a test of the ones you made so that you know if they are safe to use. I've heard that the potato ones really do help make the potato better than normal. I'm interested in making the bowls. I have several bowls (glass) at home that say microwave safe but get too hot to handle and this would be great since they are my favorite bowls to use.

I just don't get why anyone cooks with fabric. Makes no sense to me at all. None. If a bowl of something gets too hot to take out of a microwave, use potholders or a bowl with handles (aka, large mug). Better yet, put the bowl on a salad plate or on several paper towels in the microwave. Either of those can be used to pick up a hot bowl barehanded with the extra bonus of catching any boilovers without adding to your dirty laundry.

I can't remember anyone at our house putting them in the microwave. We just reheat things in the bowl, like soup or chili, which doesn't take long, and the bowl, being stoneware, doesn't get terribly hot right away. We use them more for holding the bowl while we eat on the couch in front of the television, when the food has more time to make the bowl hot.
