I am near Nashville, and I am trying to get a bunch of locals that live here together.

If anyone lives near Nashville, Franklin, Mufreesboro and outer laying areas please let me know. Would like to plan something in April. :)

purplemem 02-21-2010 07:55 PM

Oklahoma Suzie 02-22-2010 09:09 AM

I would love more info when you get it. I might be able to get away.

Stormeejean 02-22-2010 05:45 PM

I live in Paris, that is between Memphis, and Nashville.

purplemem 02-22-2010 05:47 PM

My brother in law and niece and nephew all live in Paris. Small world, isn't it.

There is a small tiny airline thats goes to Memphis....100 bucks each way....maybe I could meet up too!!!!!!!

MissM 02-22-2010 07:06 PM

Sounds like we have plenty for a good sized group. Maybe we could rotate between locations every 2-3 months. Perhaps we could even find a local shop that would be willing to host our gathering. I know of a local shop where some locals gather to quilt, for classes, etc. I have just never joined yet, have been considering it. Just food for thought.

purplemem 02-22-2010 07:32 PM

Jackson has a little quilt shop that SandPat loves. Is that a possibility?

thats too far for me. If you all ever get to Nashville or near by I can meet you

MissM 02-22-2010 08:11 PM

That would work for me. Jackson is not that far from here. Would not be a problem at all.

MissM 02-22-2010 08:16 PM

Can we come up with something that is more of a middle ground so that you could join us?

sewcrazygirl 02-22-2010 08:17 PM

i dont even know where jackson is? I am new to Tennessee

MissM 02-22-2010 08:25 PM

I'm not the best at geography myself and I am not a native to TN either, but here goes. I live near Memphis which is in West TN. That is approximately a 4 hr drive to Nashville. Jackson is somewhat Northeast of here, and approximately a 2 hr drive.

Please everyone, correct me if I am wrong in my approximations.

pam1966 02-22-2010 09:49 PM

Jackson is off of I-40, about an hour east-northeast of Memphis and about two hours south-southwest of Nashville.

The quilt shop that SandPat is probably liking is Sew Many Ideas. I spend way too much time and $$$ there. :D

Of course, going further into Memphis takes longer (I just love 240, NOT!) so it's probably more than an hour. I normally don't even get into the city when I go to Memphis.

sewcrazygirl 02-23-2010 07:03 AM

not sure if I can drive to Jackson. Perhaps one day we can meet closer, but you all should get together - sounds like fun.

mickey 02-23-2010 09:00 AM

sewcrazygirl how about cookeville or murfeesboro?
not to sure if i can find my way through Nashville once leaving the main road.

sewcrazygirl 02-23-2010 03:00 PM

yea i am in Murfreesboro.

boxerlady 02-23-2010 03:30 PM

Murfreesboro would be a good place to meet. Not as big as Nashville and it's right on the interstate.

sewcrazygirl 02-23-2010 04:03 PM

ok where would we meet?

MissM 02-23-2010 05:29 PM

Hey I drive into Memphis everyday, and have not desire to do it any other time.

whats in between??

First of all what do you all want to do? i am assuming just meet up?

MissM 02-23-2010 06:52 PM

I took a look at map quest and the only city that I could see that is about halfway between Memphis and Nashville is a small town named Holladay. A quick Google says population is about 1900, but they do have a Days Inn, 2 stars w/ rooms $50/night.
Do you want to meet up, bring machine, and have a "sew" fest?

MissM 02-23-2010 06:54 PM

Here is a link about the city

Its only 45 minutes to Jackson for me. I would be game to go there they have a killer restaurant called Casey Jones that the tables are made from treadle bases and the food is GOOD!! They have a quilt shop there and a new Hancock Fabrics store.

Heck I am game count me in.

Oh you would not have wanted to be with me this weekend then. I drove almost to Iowa to pick up a boat load of sewing machines and parts and turned around and came right back in one day. That trip was 9 hours just to get there.

Then Sunday night my wife and I hopped in the truck and left for Ohio at 11pm and didnt get back until around 7pm that Monday night. I put over 2000 miles in the drivers seat this past weekend all to get toys for me to play with......

don't mind long drives, but if we are going to meet at 9 or 10 o' clock i would have to leave at 4 or 5 o' clock to get there. which means crawling Monteagle in the dark with possible ice patches and snow. not something i really want to do.
