Migrating/Staggered Geese Calculations Needed

I want to make a row of migrating/staggered geese to piece into the back of my quilt to make up for the lack of width in my fabric. The row needs to be 16" wide. Does anyone know how I would work out the sizes required for the background blocks and the geese blocks? Many thanks!

i would make as many geese as i need, then add background fabric to each side. if, for instance your geese finish at 4x8, then a background on one side should be 8.5". if you wanted to split the background to two pieces, cut the background into to two widths but add .5" seam allowance to each piece

Here are a couple of old links for this:

If you type in "migrating geese" and/or "staggered geese" a few more threads show up for you to look at.

You need to make a plan. If you made them 4"x8", what would the length be? If you off set them an inch going to the right, you would have 8 stacked equaling 32" in height. Hope my math is correct! :)

If you plan to use the first method of assembling, I think the attached drawing might work.
