Millefiori Quilt Book, La Passacaglia quilt

Is anyone working on this quilt? I think I first saw it on Pinterest and I've become obsessed! I've ordered the book and am waiting for it's arrival. So excited!

I am working on the La Pass, have been since the beginning of this year. There is a FB group that is very active too w/ lots and lots of progress pics. Here is my latest pic

I've been participating in the Millefiore sew along this year, can't wait to get my quilt together. There is also a Facebook group for that one. They are 2 different quilts, books, groups ( Millefiore & LA Passacaglia) both fabulous!

Is that the book by Hammerstein? Price about $50? I like EPP, but not that much!

luvstoquilt 10-24-2015 04:15 AM

Beautiful but beyond my capability.

Mdegenhart 10-24-2015 04:59 AM

I just ordered the whole kit with templates, papers & the book from Mass Drop. It doesn't ship until about the end of November. I imagine it will take me forever to pick fabric, so will probably be a New Years project.

Hi ckcowl, is there any way you can send me or post the links from facebook? I've been searching but can't fine the groups.

When I search the those words I'm ending up with 'Sew and Quilt,' 'Inklingo,' 'Little Red Hen,' 'Gotham Quilts,' 'English Paper Piecing,' and 'Sister of the Divide.' Those aren't the FB groups you are talking about, are they?

Hi Kassaundra, that is beautiful! Thanks for posting the picture. What is the name of the FB group with all the progress and pictures? Having trouble finding it.

What area in OK are you? Every couple of years I visit the Adair/Pryor area (N/NE of Tulsa).

Doggramma 10-24-2015 07:16 AM

I have some templates but I need a book. So beautiful!

KalamaQuilts 10-24-2015 07:45 AM

I finished my version of La Pas this summer and am now working on the Millefiori Quilt Along as is ckkowl.

La Pas facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/335041176691683/
New Hexagon - Millefiore Quilt-Along https://www.facebook.com/groups/1481806698762201/

quite similar quilts to look at, rosettes, La Pas has much smaller pieces.

If it is english paper piecing it is all good :)

GeriB, the quilt book is published in France, hence the high price. People all over the world have been paying that kind of price for books published in the US.

joe'smom 10-24-2015 07:56 AM

They are amazingly beautiful. I love hand piecing, but have not yet been bitten by the EPP bug. Are the pieces joined by running stitch or some other?

tessagin 10-24-2015 07:59 AM

Just not willing to pay that much for a book or kit. Have too much other on my plate and in my head. It is beautiful though.

beaqltr 10-24-2015 08:39 AM

I'm not working on it. The author has a group on Facebook. I joined it just to look at all the beautiful work.

It can be done either way, the author does hand piecing w/ a running stitch. I think most do epp, that is what I do. I use the whip stitch, tried the ladder stitch was not happy w/ it and how long it takes me. The whip stitch is nearly invisible, strong and fast.

Kassaundra 10-24-2015 08:54 AM

Oh and I forgot there is at least one lady on the FB group that is piecing by machine, she said something about a narrow zig zag stitch, but didn't give any details that I saw.

I agree, but I had never seen this pattern before. I do mostly charity quilts so I try to make them stunning using simple patterns.

Onebyone 10-24-2015 09:18 AM

Inklingo has the printouts for these too.

...is this better ?????

Mdegenhart 10-24-2015 11:49 AM

I don't know. The book, acrylic templates & all the paper pieces (almost 3000 of them) was about $136.

I used paperpieces.com bought the book, acrylic pieces, "five small packs" of paper pieces for the La Passacaglia and paid about $105 which included shipping. I was a little confused about which acrylic template pieces and paper pieces I needed and the woman on the phone was very helpful in picking the correct ones for the quilt I knew I wanted to make. If you don't know which quilt out of the book you want, then you can order the book and decide which of the quilts you want before ordering the templates and paper pieces.

Onebyone 10-25-2015 09:14 AM

I showed my book, acrylic templates, and papers at guild when everyone was auditioning patterns for a guild challenge quilt project. We pick one every two years. I was told I was crazy to spend that much money and of course mine got voted down. I really need to find a non poverty guild. LOL Sewing the pieces are addictive. I love it.

KalamaQuilts 10-25-2015 09:15 AM

I ordered the same pack as CindyA plus I got 20% off. That didn't include the book though. There was more than plenty paper pieces.

Just my 2cents I think MassDrop is closer to mass hysteria :)

When I finished my quilt I sold it all, including the book, on to someone else who wanted to do the quilt for what I paid for it all. She told me the other day she has finished and sold the works on to a third person. Green Quilting!

Onebyone 10-25-2015 09:29 AM

At massdrop now the acrylic template set and paper pieces are $60.

BETTY62 10-25-2015 09:35 AM

What an awesome quilt. I'm looking forward to seeing the post of everyone's completed project.

Mdegenhart 10-25-2015 12:03 PM

The $60 on Massdrop is not the full set of papers. You have to reuse the ones in that set.

Onebyone 10-25-2015 01:36 PM

I cut my own using the templates. My friends and I sit, trace and cut for an afternoon and have enough to keep us going until we meet again. Someone posted on Facebook that they had custom dies made for the Go to cut the fabric and one to cut the templates. Good idea. Inklingo is good. Several of my friends use that.
