I've been taking amytriptiline for about a year for migraines and sleep like a baby for 7 or 8 hours each night. I've seldom had problems sleeping but now sleep better than ever.

I don't sleep. Wake up at least 17 times an hour... I've learned to adjust. Do not take sleeping aids. pray you get over yours. :)

When my mind is working on projects and keeping sleep away, I get up and take a Tylenol and soon am fast asleep, otherwise I'm thinking all night long and it's such a waste because I may think but never make decisions....

do you wake up groggy?

drgranny 04-30-2011 09:21 PM

I tried Ambien and I had halucnations and didn't know it. I was waking up my husband during them and it scared him. He was worried about what might happen if I haden't woken him up. Did you know that there is an OTC that has the ingredients that tylenol but no tylenol? It has worked wonders for us. Just ask the pharmacist.

I meant to say that the OTC has the ingredients of typenol PM just with no tylenol.

I've used 3mg of melatonin that last 2 nights - 7 hours of sleep both nights! Hooray! I'm overjoyed to be able to sleep without Ambien.

Grandma Cindy 05-01-2011 07:42 AM

Does anyone know of any side effects from the melatonin?

I tried Ambien for a few days. It kept me wide awake for several hours. Then I'd sleep more from exhaustion than from the pill for a couple hours. When I woke to fix hubby's lunch and breadfast, I'd be big time groggy until noon. I mean, useless groggy.

I don't need that trouble.
