Mini Dresdens

I have always liked Dresden Plate Quilts. I am making my second one now for one of my Granddaughters. I was surfing around and found a pattern and template for a mini Dresden at Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day. I ordered and can wait till it gets here. I want to make a mini for her doll. How cute will that be?

If you want to see mini Dresdens ... take a look at Granny_59's work ....

Here's her micro-mini Dresden ...

And here's an earlier one, that's larger ... though I have a feeling Eleanor Burns' will be larger than both.

I am putting the binding now on a mini Dresden using the Eleanor Burns Quilt in A Day pattern. The little template for the dresdens was so easy to use, I decided to get the scalloped ruler for the edge. It was so much easier than I thought it could be.

Those tiny dresden plates are VERY intimidating to me.

I thought about ordering the scalloped ruler and thought it would be too hard. Now I am rethinking that. Glad you told me.

oh my goodness, I am amazed! What wonderful work you have done . . . just gorgeous. and I agree, very intimidating - the size of those beauties!

The scalloped ruler was easy, and it can be used for marking vine paths too. I was worried that binding a scalloped would be difficult but this scallop is shallow enough that there are no weird points to maneuver. I definitely recomend it.

I have downloaded a free mini-dresden plate pattern on Craftsy/patterns

I've made all of the dresden plates from the Eleanor Burns kit and my plates turned out to be about 5" wide. Now looking at the colored sashing those pieces are 6" wide but the kit only came with 5" charms. Do I need to cut strips from the 5" charms and piece the sashing strips to make them 6" wide? The instructions didn't show how to cut using the 5" charms, only using the strips. I guess I messed up, but at least my plates look like they are supposed to. I want to make another with batiks but will use strips the next time.

I just finished the top using all 30's repo fabrics and it was easier than I thought it would be. My only problem is I cant COUNT!!! I now have enough blades for another quilt
Any takers? Free lol

Delaney's Quilt

I have several different Dresden rulers. If I had a charm pack, I could get 2 5 inch blades out of each charm. It works out beautiful.
